Professor Fortinbras was a witch and Charms professor at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry at some point between the 15th and 19th centuries.[1]

Hogwarts career[]
Fortinbras at some point became a Charms Master at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry where she was granted Classroom 2E on the third-floor and an office in which to work.[1] Known to have taught the subject of Charms sometime vaguely between the 15th and 19th century, over the course of her career as an educator, she was known to have subscribed to the belief that the fabled Cursed Vaults truly existed. At the time, a small group of teachers and students formed a 'circle of trust' that researched the vaults together, and she would later her fears and suspicions about them in a folio that she kept in her classroom. In time, Potions Master of the day, Professor Bartholomew, became her closest confidant, to the point where she even tried to conceal his identity so that her colleague would not be implicated in the conspiracy.[1]
Legacy[]
Throughout her teaching career, Professor Fortinbras eventually became acquainted with the Gryffindor house ghost, Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington, who unbeknownst to her had overheard her talking about the Cursed Vaults. Centuries after her passing, Sir Nicholas would eventually tell Jacob's sibling and Angelica Cole about her in 1987, and helped them search her old classroom, where they found the writings she had left behind.[1]

- Fortinbras is the name of a fictional character in William Shakespeare's tragedy Hamlet; Fortinbras is a Norwegian crown prince who, at the end of the play, is to be crowned ruler of Denmark following the death of nearly all the major characters.
