Accessibility

Foreign Policy is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We believe all persons should be able to access our site and we are continually improving the user experience for everyone by applying the relevant accessibility standards.

Measures to Support Accessibility

Foreign Policy is taking the following measures to ensure accessibility of our website:

  • Provide continual accessibility training for our staff.
  • Include people with disabilities in our design personas.
  • Regularly evaluate our website against current WCAG criteria.
  • Ensure our social media is accessible.

Conformance Status

The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) define requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. The Foreign Policy website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. Partially conformant means that some content parts do not fully conform to the accessibility standard.

Additional Accessibility Considerations

Although our goal is WCAG 2.2 Level AA conformance, we have also applied some Level AAA Success Criteria:

  • Images of text are only used for decorative purposes or logos.
  • Re-authentication, after a session expires, does not cause loss of data.
  • Contrast ratios of at least 7:1 for all titles and article text
