Will Hunt, a 16-year-old sophomore at Tennessee’s McCallie prep school, warmed hearts when he covered Maroon 5’s “She Will Be Loved” while in the hospital awaiting heart surgery. Now, the viral video performance has reached the ears of the band’s frontman, Adam Levine.

Accompanied by his dad on guitar, Hunt performed the cover in the ICU of Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital the night before his major surgery. His brother, Mac, captured video of the moment and posted it to social media. “Currently my 16 yr old brother is dealing with heart failure and is at Vanderbilt Hospital,” he tweeted on Friday, Oct. 14. “Just thought I would share [Will] love u.”

The video quickly went viral and caught the attention of Levine, a coach on NBC’s The Voice. “It’s hard to express with words what it feels like to know you’ve helped someone in this way,” the singer tweeted. “So instead, I’ll just share. Nice job kid. :)”

Hunt quickly responded, “I can’t breath oh my god. Thank you so much I am your number 1 fan. This is CRAZY.”

“It is crazy. I always knew he would be discovered for his singing. But I never knew it would be like this,” Hunt’s cousin, Wyatt McVay, told local NBC affiliate WRCB TV. Hunt’s friends and family continue to promote the video with the hope of grabbing the attention of The Ellen DeGeneres Show.

Levine’s stamp of approval should help with that. Watch the full video of Hunt’s performance below.
