A recording that surfaced Friday showing Republican nominee for president Donald Trump making vulgar comments about pursuing women sparked a wave of criticism from many in Hollywood.

The 2005 tape obtained by The Washington Post features Trump and Billy Bush, then a host of Access Hollywood and currently a Today show host, engaged in a crass conversation about chasing women. “You know, I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them,” Trump says in the recording. “It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab them by the p—y. You can do anything.”

“This is horrific. We cannot allow this man to become president,” Democratic nominee for president Hillary Clinton tweeted.

“Trump brags that he likes to grab women by the p—y. #LordHelpUs #Evangelicals,” Patricia Arquette tweeted.

Jenny Slate wrote: “Hi @realDonaldTrump u actually CANT grab women ‘by the p—y’ &youre a predator in every sense of the word. Cant lie yr way outta this one.”

Trump issued a statement to EW after the recording surfaced: “This was locker room banter, a private conversation that took place many years ago. Bill Clinton has said far worse to me on the golf course – not even close. I apologize if anyone was offended.”
