    Synopsis

The Supreme Court rejected ED's objection to Arvind Kejriwal's statement that voting for AAP might prevent his return to jail, stressing the importance of the 'jhaadu' button and Kejriwal's bail. Kejriwal urged voters to support AAP during a roadshow in Moti Nagar, New Delhi.

The Supreme Court on Thursday refused to consider the Enforcement Directorate's objection against Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal's campaign statement, in which he said that if people vote for AAP, he will not have to go back to jail on June 2.

“If you push the ‘jhaadu’ button on May 25, I may not go back to jail,” Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Sunday at a roadshow in Moti Nagar, under the New Delhi constituency.

Kejriwal has been released on interim bail by the Supreme Court till June 1. “Friends, they are saying after 20 days, I will have to go back to jail… but if you push the broom button… I may not go (back) to jail… the power is in your hands… vote for jhaadu and sweep away the BJP…,” he added.

While commenting on interim bail to Kejriwal, the top court said that the bench did not make any exception for anybody and reiterated its verdict regarding the date by which the CM must surrender.

"We welcome criticism of the verdict. We will not go into that. Our order is clear when he has to surrender. It is order of apex court and the rule of law shall be governed by this. We did not make an exception for anybody. we said in our order what we felt was justified," SC said.
