When it comes to a classic girls’ night out, Kelly Ripa isn’t bringing husband Mark Consuelos along — but she would make an exception for one special man.

On Live with Kelly and Mark this morning, Consuelos read that “social interaction experts reveal that the perfect number to have in a social gathering is multiples of four.”

Their reasoning? “You can only keep in mind five people’s mental state at once, including your own.”

“So any attempt of a conversation with a larger group is doomed to become a lecture with one or two people holding court,” he clarified.

Ripa quipped, “That’s what happens at Gelman’s house,” referring to the show’s executive producer.

Consuelos continued, “While the rest of us often wait for our chance to break in. Or break away into a smaller huddle.”

He admitted that he “like[s] when a table is buzzing,” likening it to “when you throw a dinner party, and [they] seat people at certain places and stuff.”

“And you can see everybody’s into their own little separate nook,” he added. “Rarely does it become one person talking or two people talking to the whole table, but I like when it’s just little conversations.”

Ripa brought up going out with her own “girls’ night out group,” to which Consuelos jokingly replied, “Which I call ESPN night for me.” Nonetheless, Ripa teased that “a few of those nights have been very drinky, drinky, happy, happy.”

“And I quit drinking years ago,” she clarified. “But when you go to drinky, drinky, happy, happy girls’ night, and you’re the sober one, you become the conduit through which all…”

Consuelos chimed in and jokingly slurred, “Can I tell you?”

Amid laughter, Ripa shared, “Whatever is happening, is happening on me, in my face.”

After both Ripa and Consuelos imitated drunken stupors, the latter asked why he’s “never been invited to one of those girls’ night outs,” as Ripa fired back, “Are you a girl?”

While Consuelos said he was “just joking,” Ripa claimed that she “would only invite Ryan Seacrest to a girls’ night out.”

“He can handle it,” she explained. “He just is cuspy enough to get in with the girls. He can understand our language, our shorthand. He gets it. He’s got like a… sisterhood rising. If that makes sense… He’s the only one.”

Ripa also highlighted that Consuelos “would leave,” which he confirmed, saying, “I would leave. I would be gone.”

Ripa then pointed out, “Like, with him, we would stick you with the bill. Any guy that shows up to girls’ night out… gets the bill. That is the rule.”
