"Even if Superman could return, who's to say that he could defeat them?
"The Motherbox did. Victor's father activated a Motherbox more than a year ago, when Superman was still alive. Didn't call out to Steppenwolf. None of the Motherboxes did. Not until S-"
"Not until Superman died."
"Not until Superman died..."
"It's like they were afraid of him."
"Yes. They were afraid of him. This is the only way. There are six, not five. There is no "us" without him."

The Resurrection of Superman was a successful mission orchestrated by the Justice League to bring Superman back to life.

"Anybody with a match can turn the house to smoke."

"Turns smoke back into a house."

Cyborg and Barry dig up Superman's body, while Arthur and Diana talk in the van

Cyborg retrieves the last Mother Box from S.T.A.R. Labs for the group to analyze. The League has a discussion and decides to use the Mother Box to resurrect Superman, noting that the Motherbox could "turn smoke back into a house". Cyborg seems slightly hesitant, as he does not believe that they know enough about Kryptonian biology to know what would happen. The team also realizes that after activating the Mother Box, Steppenwolf and the Parademons will know where they are. They still decide to take the chance.[1]

The League enters Star Labs with the Motherbox

Inside a truck, Barry drove to the gate of S.T.A.R. Labs (Posing as an MP), and Cyborg hacked into the computer so the gatekeeper will allow Barry to enter.

Clark Kent's body was placed in the waters of the Kryptonian ship, and Cyborg saw that the ship had been damaged by the energy surges when Lex Luthor created Doomsday to destroy Superman, and therefore cannot wake the box. Barry tells him that he could jumpstart the box. He says that when he approaches the Speed of Light, "weird things happen to time", but he generates large electrical charges. The ship begs the team not to wake the box and resurrect Superman, but they still continue the plan.

When Flash readied himself into position, he and Cyborg began counting down together, but Cyborg had a vision of the Knightmare future with Diana and Arthur dead, and Superman evil, it ended, and Flash ran down the ship's hallways to reach the box. The box touches the water too early, however, and we see the first instance of The Flash using his time travel to move the box back ever so slightly.

After he charged the Mother Box with the Speed Force, Flash broke through the wall of the ship, and Superman burst out of the ship before stumbling at the shattered statue at Heroes Park.[1]

Skirmish in Heroes Park[]

Superman reborn - Zack Snyder's Justice League

After the Justice League succeeded in resurrecting Superman, he is very disoriented. Clark looked around the fragments of the statue, trying to gather his thoughts. The Justice League then arrived behind him, knowing that the Man of Steel is back.

Clark was still disoriented and unsure of the situation, and his powers return to him for what he must believe to be the first time. His systems remembering the vision that he had in the ship, Cyborg's armor's defense system activated, seeing him as a threat. With Cyborg unable to control it, a rocket is fired by the system, but Clark dodges it before responding back by firing with his heat vision. Superman then began to battle the Justice League at Heroes Park. The League attempted to restrain him and restore his memory but are easily defeated.

Batman witnesses Superman reborn - ZSJL

During the fight, military, police, and civilians gather around the park. Superman targets them, and Cyborg and Batman do their best to protect them. Batman is noticed by Superman, who fires his heat vision at the Caped Crusader. He deflects the lasers with the gauntlet Alfred Pennyworth built for him, but the lasers still blast him into a Metropolis PD car, denting it. Batman rips off the ruined gauntlet and throws it to the side. Unfazed, Clark flies towards him, anger evident in his face. Clark activates his heat vision again. Batman attempts to block it with the other gauntlet. It continues until Lois Lane, who had been nearby delivering coffee to a Metropolis Police Officer, talked the Man of Steel down. They then fly to Kal-El's childhood home.[1]

Aftermath[]

A newly-resurrected Superman reunited with Lois and his mother, Martha

With the last Mother Box left on the hood of a Police cruiser after the resurrection, Silas Stone brought the box back into S.T.A.R. Labs, and back into the room he had used to some Kryptonian metal with Ryan Choi. Steppenwolf then used a Boom Tube to attempt to take the last box from Silas, who used the electron laser used before to superheat the box, which would be visible to a satellite that the league would use to locate the unity. He was killed in the process. Even with Cyborg having shown his father contempt earlier, he still seemed overcome with grief when he found out.

As Superman was regaining his memories outside the Kent Farm, he reunites with Martha Kent, who came back and heard the good news, and decides to find out why the Justice League brought him back, and he later helps defeat Steppenwolf and put an end to the Unity.[1]
