Colour Shades

Hello! Shouldn't the shades of red and blue be lighter than then the current #D60000 and #0A226F, closer to #ED1D25 and #034DA2 seen in this earlier version (12 July 2010)? I could not find any discussion on this talk page or on the Korean and English language wikipedia pages regarding the change to the darker shades except a few short edit summaries. Two of the summaries point to an "official" website given as http://www.kcckp.net/en/ and http://www.kcckp.net/en/great/, but those seem to be deadlinks as of this message, there is an English-language "official" website which is actually a portal for the Korean Friendship Association (KFA). To the best of my knowledge, there isn't an official governmental website for the DPRK, the most "official" would probably be Japan-based Chongryon's Korean/Japanese-language website (http://www.chongryon.com/) which has a .gif file on a page with descriptions of the fatherland http://www.chongryon.com/j/img/mc/dprk_2.gif. It has red (#ED1C27) and blue (#024FA2) shades close to the 12 July 2010 version. Later edit summaries states that the shade of red used are the same as that of the Flag of the Worker's Party of Korea, which doesn't source it's shade of red, nor the party law that states the shade of red to be the same as that of the national flag. Another summary points to images (I would guess jpeg photographs) of Air Koryo, which would be quite different from either physical flags and flat-surface display flags (ideal for computer displays). Personally, from the television and video images of physical flags at rallies, parades, Arirang festivals and FIFA football matches, I think the majority of the flags sport the lighter shades of red and blue. However at rarer occasions, I have indeed seen the darker shades before, mostly as small desktop flags. To conclude, I would propose using the shades given on Chongryon's website (#ED1C27 and #024FA2) as their's is the closest to an official computer display of the national flag. I will have to look over the sources I have again, but as of right now, there are no official shades according to the DPRK Flag Law. I got color shades used in the 2008 Olympics, but I will have to look at the book later. In the 2008 Olympics Protocol Guide, the Pantone colors of the DPRK flag is 032 and 293 (so they are light colors unlike what we have here). User:Zscout370 ^{(Return fire)} 00:22, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

I use the photos because they show the flagin actuality. Many countries (niticably Poland) disobey their own flag laws, even officially. Fry1989 (talk) 00:47, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

The colors from the image of the flag shown on North Korea's MFA website is #FE0000 and #0601F5. It is true that no official decrees has specified the shades of the colors but I think this may be the closest thing we can get. --User:Sshu94 11:10, 5 November 2017 (UTC)

The colors from the image of the flag shown on Naenara is #034DA2, #FFFFFF and #EC1D25. This color set was reproduce by open this image with IrfanView, but before opening file, IrfanView should be configured to use C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\color\sRGB Color Space Profile.icm for color management. -- Great Brightstar (talk) 13:00, 3 August 2024 (UTC)

I've seen File:《조선민주주의인민공화국 법전(제2판)》(법률출판사).pdf also have a sample of the flag on page 2, but it's really a challenge to get proper colors from there. -- Great Brightstar (talk) 13:48, 28 August 2024 (UTC)
