English: Anonymus, 1638 The Maastricht Treason. The painting depicts the beheading of the 9 "traitors", who had been accused of conspiring to deliver the city into the hands of the Spanish troops. In the corners the portraits of the main conspirators. Top left: the rector of the Jesuit school, Jean-Baptiste Boddens; top right: the Franciscan friar Servaes Vinck. Bottom left: the Jesuit brother Gerard Pasman; bottom right: the Jesuit priest Philippe Nottin (collection of Bonnefantenmuseum, Maastricht, Netherlands).
