Although it is in the public domain because it is a US government work, reproduction, derivtive works, and commercial use are restricted per [1], which is not suitable for Commons. ViperSnake151 03:04, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep Trademark-like protections are allowed on Commons. -Nard 03:41, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Keep If that's the case we might as well delete all the government seals and insignias. --Cpicon92 03:47, 2 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
- Comment - I have noticed that we abide by US laws when it comes to fair use and all that. Sure, this may be a WP:ALLORNOTHING situation, but consider this, a template I made for the NASA logos on the English Wikipedia which I made after seeing the NASA logo (a government work, public domain) being tagged with a fair use rationale and the non-free logo template, survived Tfd with a keep. The template stated that although the image was in the public domain, that specific laws restricted the use of the image. Since we're hosted in the United States, we have to abide by their laws. It says here black and white that "This order prohibits reproduction and or use of [the logo] for commercial purposes. Even though it's public domain, it's made non-free by our standards. Kept. Nearly every trademark there is prohibits commercial use. That's kinda implied by "trademark". Our policy has always been that images only have to be free in the copyright sense. - Rocket000 05:02, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]
