This file is a duplicate of File:VEN orthographic.svg, used to violate NPOV in Spanish Wikipedia among others wiki Oscar_. (talk) 17:53, 3 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Comment It can also be argued that the other file is a duplicate that violates the NPOV, since it ignores the Geneva Agreement of 1966, signed by the UK and Venezuela in regard to this border dispute. As explained previously, as well as in File talk:Venezuela (orthographic projection).svg, "it does not represent a lack of neutrality to say that Venezuela claims the Guayana Esequiba ([a claim that] is recognized by the UN)." For this reason, I express my disagreement with this request. --Leanex77 (talk) 19:33, 3 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It's irrelevant whether it's used at all or not. Also, it is used temporarily, in the same way the other map is also used temporarily; the map seems to be interchanged every so often. Zozs (talk) 03:24, 4 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Keep One of the files shows only the de facto territory; another also shows the claimed territory. It is standard here in Commons to, on a map, have 2 colors: dark green and light green, with dark green representing the de facto territory and light green the claimed territory. These standard maps are used accross all articles in Wikipedia. However, for the articles on Venezuela, POVers have managed to seize control and introduce POV maps which does not show Venezuela's claimed territory -- in contrast to every single other article on Wikipedia, every single other map in Wikimedia Commons. If anything is POV then it's "VEN ortographic.svg", which was modified by these users to enforce POV and then locked to ensure there is no further editing. Of course, Leanex77 is right and this file should be kept. Zozs (talk) 03:29, 4 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
  •  Keep The premise that presents this map as the only one that has been used officially is not completely true. For a considerable period of time, the file that is requested to be deleted had been used in the article about Venezuela in english; however, just recently the same user who is making this request just changed the image for the one claimed as the "valid" one, ignoring the comments of the talk page. Additionally, as they can be verified, there are serious concerns about the use of this file in different projects (1 & 2), since it is considered as a violation of the international agreements that recognize the Venezuelan reivindication as a formal claim. Ignoring these concerns, and just deleting an alternative file which use is disputed with another one, would be a biased action that do not contribute to preserve the NPOV. Sincerely, --Leanex77 (talk) 03:35, 4 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Kept: as above. Yann (talk) 15:05, 10 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
